If you have either a high profile interviewee or someone with a large following on social media, we can interview them for the campaign. It is important that you agree with the person in advance and then introduce them to James, at West Creative, who will manage the process thereafter. No payment to interviewees is offered, instead they gain profile from their association with the campaign.

Please cc' James into the email to introduce him to the interviewee.

If you want any feedback, you can contact James to explore interview ideas and get his feedback before contacting someone.  The best way to persuade potential interveiwees is to share with them previous ones from the campaign here: https://sls-uk.org/inside-edition/interviews/

🎥  How to Film Your Library Service

Short social media video – “Your Library Service in Action”

We’re creating short, 1–2 minute social media videos to help showcase the breadth and impact of your library service. You don’t need special equipment - just your phone, some short clips, and a few key facts.

1. What to Film

Film in landscape (sideways) on your phone.
Send 15–20 short clips, each about 5–10 seconds long.
The more variety you can share, the better — we’ll choose the strongest clips for the final video.

Try to include a mix of:

Your service and setting

  • Your storage area or resource shelves
  • Staff preparing or sorting boxes
  • Deliveries being packed or labelled
  • Displays of popular or themed resources

Resources and activity

  • Topic boxes or reading sets ready for schools
  • Books and other resources being opened or browsed
  • Staff checking or curating collections
  • Optional: children or teachers using your resources in a school (only if you have permission)

Details and close-ups

  • Hands handling books or opening a box
  • Book covers, resource labels, or signage
  • Stamps, cards, or packaging
  • A logo or sign for your service

Tips:

  • Keep your phone steady (rest it on a surface if possible).
  • Use natural light or good indoor lighting.
  • No talking or sound - ambient noise is fine.
  • Capture gentle movement - pans, zooms, and action help bring it to life.

2. What We’ll Do

We’ll edit your clips into a 1–2 minute social media video with music and short text overlays.
The aim is to show:

  • The breadth and quality of your resources
  • The care and expertise behind your service
  • The difference your service makes to schools and learners

3. Your Text Script

Instead of a voice-over, we’ll use short text lines (facts or key messages) on screen.
Please answer these four short questions to help us create the script:

  1. What makes your library service special or different?
  2. Who do you support (e.g. primary, secondary, SEN, early years)?
  3. What types of resources do you lend or curate?
  4. How does your service help teachers or pupils?

Each answer should be one clear sentence — we’ll turn these into short text lines that appear across the video.

Example answers:

  • “We support over 80 schools across the county with termly loan boxes.”
  • “From fiction to phonics, art packs to artefacts.”
  • “Helping teachers save time and bring learning to life.”

4. What to Send

✅ 15–20 short clips (5–10 seconds each, filmed in landscape)
✅ Your answers to the 4 questions above

Send a link to the folder with all the above content to james@westcreative.co (just .co)
